Is there any other ways that i can approach them and help them to join the group? I felt bad letting them by the corner all alone while others were having fun.

I also found out from the rest of the children ( separately ) that they were the same during the previous teacher’s class. Both of them had they colouring done nicely. I hand out the colouring sheet to both of them while others are doing it in a group. The girl smile when she saw us laughing at the class while we were playing games. So, instead i left them alone but i was observing their body language and facial expression. Both of them ( they are brother and sister ) stand at the corner of the class for the whole entire class watching other kids playing.Īt first, i tried to approach them to join, but they refused. If you never try, you will never know.ĭuring my first class in teaching kids yoga, i have two children age 4 and age 7 in my class whom does not talk and communicate with me. You can always learn and grow as a teacher. In my opinion, If you want to teach yoga, have the training to teach, move forward. I’m sure you will receive some great responses on this forum since there are some teachers on here. The fact that you are asking questions shows that you are careful and thoughtful. So you should begin teaching if that is what you want to do. You made me better with every single adviseĮveryone begins as a beginner. I guess i shall not accept any offer at this moment if i am not ready? What do u say? I will try a class with the kids tomorrow as i have agreed to replace a teacher. Hmmm…now it makes me wonder if i am qualified to teach as i have not mastered all the knowledge that a teacher need to have to share with the students ( be it, kids or adults ). I am a new teacher and lack of experience in teaching. ( i was trained in kundalini kids yoga that mantra will be nice to add in for tuning in and closing). I was thinking to create my own style and sequence for my kids class, but on the other hand, i am thinking if i should add in mantra to the class. To be very honest, i have yet to adapt to mantra at this stage. If i can not understand the mantra and the meaning of it, i should not even teach my students. You can read more about the Adi Mantra, the Golden Chain and ‘tuning in’ in this article on the Spirit Voyage website.Hi, you are absolutely right. The Golden Chain is a way of describing the energetic link that exists between a teacher, their teacher, their teacher’s teacher and so on back into history. The connection to Divine wisdom is also known as connecting to the Golden Chain.

So when we chant the full mantra Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo, we are making a conscious connection to Divine wisdom and knowledge, and trusting in its guidance. Guru Dev Namo calls on the subtle wisdom to guide you. Guru means wisdom or teacher, as in a source of knowledge.ĭev means subtle, etheric, divine or belonging to the realms of God. Ong Namo calls on your consciousness to become subtle and receptive to its higher resources. Namo means to bow, or call on, with respect and receptivity. It has the connotation of energy and activity, involvement without attachment and generates the Shakti life force. Ong is the creative energy of the total cosmos and consciousness of the Creator as experienced in the creation. Lets take a closer look at the parts of the mantra and what they mean. It is the voucher of the Divine Shakti, the kundalini.”Ī simple translation of the Adi Mantra is “I bow to the Creative Wisdom, I bow to the Divine Teacher within” or as I like to say in class “I bow to all that is, I bow to the Divine Wisdom at the centre of my heart” It is a call which can penetrate through any maya and manifest God and Guru, the Supreme Consciousness.

By tuning in we are able to move past the ego self to experience the true essence of the teachings of Kundalini Yoga. Most importantly it connects us to our own inner teacher. It is used to create an energetic link to the teachings and the teachers who have come before us. You will experience this at Siri Shakti Yoga Sound classes too. Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo, the Adi Mantra, is chanted three times at the start of every Kundalini Yoga class.

What was this mantra being chanted and what did it mean? I love to use my voice, so it was important for me to learn more. One of the big differences was the ‘tuning in’ at the beginning of the class. A friend had been encouraging me to try Kundalini Yoga but they hadn’t given much detail about what to expect. I’d been practicing Hatha Yoga for some years. When I attended my first Kundalini Yoga class, back in 2009, I had no idea what to expect. Kundalini Yoga, also known as the Yoga of Awareness, is a complete practice that uses breath, movement and rhythm to bring you into a space of inner peace and calm.
